Lovage Me Tender

Photos of unusual and heirloom vegetables and fruits, local farmers' markets and the sights along the daily path of being a produce buyer in Brooklyn.

When it gets bone-chilling cold outside, I can’t help but want to eat beans.  Lots of beans.  Navy bean soups.  Rice and red merlot beans. Yellow eyed beans and sauteed greens.  Pinto beans with bacon, smothered in cheese.  I used to work for Cayuga Pure Organics, a farm in Ithaca, NY, that brings their exceptional beans to the Union Square Greenmarket on Saturday.
